Canine Heartworm Test
Service Description
**PLEASE NOTE- no heartworm medication purchases will be allowed without an ANNUAL heartworm test. This is required per Vet Board standards to make sure the medication is working every year. This test requires a blood draw to be done and run through a specific antigen test. The test will detect heartworms in canines and takes approximately 10 minutes to give results. Staff recommendation is that ALL pets are initially tested after adoption/rescue and placed on monthly preventative medication. Testing is not done on puppies younger than 6 months, they can immediately be placed on preventative medication and tested at their one-year vaccination schedule. If a pet is determined to be positive on the test, staff recommendation is to followup with a full service veterinarian to determine the best course of action. Tests are done on a first come, first serve basis during shot clinic hours. Go to the e-appointment tab to pre-register
